Janice (Shumacker) Culoso

1936 - 2021



Cobleskill- Janice Culoso, 84, of Washington Ave., died peacefully on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 30, 1936 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Olga (Steinke) Shumacker. 

For many years Janice lived in Clinton, MA working as a purchasing agent for Nypro Inc.

In 1987, she moved to Cobleskill to live with her daughter.

Raised as an only child, Janice treasured being a mother and grandmother, enjoying every moment spent with family.  In her leisure, she would read and was entertained with movies.

Janice was predeceased by her husbands, Neil R. Ashford in 1981 and Pancrasio Culoso in 1989, along with her son, Steven R. Ashford who died in 1985.

Survivors include her two daughters: Renae (Bob) Govel of Albany and Lisa Borggreen of Cobleskill; five grandchildren: Heather Pettengill, Susan (Joe) Rorick, Bonnie Pettengill, Daniel Borggreen, and Matthew Borggreen; six great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Honoring Janice’s request, there will be no formal service and cremation will take place at Vale Crematory.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Cobleskill Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 451, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
