Central Bridge- Helen A. Nelson, 72, of Central Bridge died Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Guilderland.
Born April 21, 1948 in Schoharie, she was the daughter of Henry and Helen (Oliver) Bender.
Helen lived many years in Florida before moving back to Schoharie County. She was a strong woman, willing to work and help others as they needed it. Helen was a bartender and housekeeper where she had been employed, at Orchard Farm in Redhook and Porky’s Lounge in Georgetown, FL.
Helen liked to be in the company of family and friends and loved to dance and plant flowers. Her most treasure moments were the time spend with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, James Nelson, daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Darin Johnson of Anthony, FL.
Cherishing her memories are her children whose father is Ronald Smith: Missy Brennon of Weirsdale, FL, Rayfield Smith (Tammy) of Pomona Park, FL, and William Smith (Maria) of Central Bridge; grandchildren: Maddie Brennon, Rebecca Fortin, James Ryan Coates, Brett Brennon, Justin Smith, Tori Mercer-Smith, Joshua Smith, Nicole Smith, Karla Smith, Almira Smith, Jerimiah Smith, Lena Smith, Kimberlee Gerber and Sallye Perkins.
A celebration of Helen’s life will take place at a later date in Weirsdale, FL. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to National Alzheimer’s Association: https://www.alz.org/northeasternny
