Cobleskill- George P. Filisko Jr., 86, of Lafayette Circle, died Thursday, July 1, 2021, at his residence.
Born July 17, 1934, in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Elizabeth (Dudics) Filisko. He lived in Connecticut most of his life and retired in 1997 from Board of Education in Monroe where he was the building maintenance supervisor.
George was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1957 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1959.
He was a communicant of St. Teresa’s Church in Trumbull and in his leisure time he would hunt, fish, and camp. George enjoyed coming to Schoharie County and bought property in 1987 to retire to this area.
He was married Lorraine Glennon on November 30, 1957, and she predeceased him on November 30, 2001. George was also predeceased by his son Mark in 1982 as well as a great-grandson, Jasper Belinski.
Survivors include his children: Linda Belinski of Howard, CO, Karen Brodeaur of Richmondville and Gregory Filisko of Cobleskill; his last love, Susanne Oathout of Cobleskill; grandchildren: Thomas E. Belinski, Daniel P. Belinski, and Nicholas Filisko; and great-grandchildren: Clara Lynn Belinski and Christopher Jonathan Belinski.
In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Inurnment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Newton, CT.
