Alfred Joseph Giacinto born February 5, 1926, of Roosevelt New York passed away on June 10, 2021, in Cobleskill, NY. The son of Dominic Giacinto and Laura Pomaro-Giacinto, Fred lived a fulfilling, vibrant 95 years.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII and married the beautiful Anne Depinto in 1955. Together they raised three sons: Tony Giacinto of SC, Fred Giacinto Jr. of Middleburgh, NY and Rick Giacinto of Long Island, NY.
He is predeceased by his siblings: Frank Giacinto, Sal Giacinto, John Giacinto, Josephine Lewonka and Martha Woods.
Freddy “The Rock” patrolled the streets for 20 years as a Police Officer for The Hempstead Police Department.
He was an advocate for exercising regularly - walking a mile a day, working with weights and such. He always said; “if you stop moving, you stop living.” Refinishing antique furniture was a big part of his past time.
He was an important figure in his community, admired and respected by many. He will be greatly missed.
