Cobleskill- Frances Amodeo, 74, of Heron Road, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown due to declining health issues.

Born June 27, 1946, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Mary (Giamarino) Amodeo.

Frances moved upstate from Baldwin, NY to attend SUNY Oneonta and then moved to Cobleskill.  She earned a Master’s of Arts from Empire College and was a Professor of Computer Science at SUNY Cobleskill from 1981 until retiring in 2013.

Frances was a member of the National Mah Jongg League, was an avid reader and enjoyed computer word games with friends and photography.  She was an excellent cook, lifelong cat owner but her greatest pleasure was spending time with family, especially her two granddaughters.

Frances married Jim Nuhlicek on May 21, 1988, and he predeceased her on September 14, 2017.

Survivors include her children: Scott (Laura) Jarvis of Ithaca and Laura (Josh) Salisbury of Albany; two granddaughters:  Aoife Weiss and Eliza Salisbury; her sister, Susan Amodeo Rizzi of Long Beach, NY and her brother, John Amodeo of Graton, CA.

There will be no formal services however memorial contributions may be made to Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or Iroquois Indian Museum, PO Box 7, Howes Cave, NY 12092.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
