Edith Schroer

July 22, 1937 ~ December 29, 2021 (age 84)


Carlisle- Edith M. Schroer, 84, of Beckers Corners Road, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Palatine Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past three years.

Born July 22, 1937, in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Ina (Eldredge) Lambert.

Edie was a graduate of the Sharon Springs Central School and then Austin Beauty School where she received her hair dressing license.  She owned and operated Edie’s Styling Salon from 1970 until the 31st of December 2018 when she suffered a stroke.  This was her passion, not just styling hair but building friendships and conversing with her customers.  They were like her family which was always her pride and joy, family and her many relationships that she solidified over the years.

Edie also loved shopping and the family farm.  She would assist whenever she could and was proud of her families’ hard work.  Edie was also a collector of assorted items, particularly dolls, snow babies and beanie babies.

Edie was predeceased by her husband, Herman, in 1989, her son, Jody in 1997, and two sisters: Coreen VanArsdal and Ruth Anderson.

Remembering her always are her children: Herman Schroer and Mary Jo Wood both of Carlisle; grandson, Stuart Wood of Carlisle; four brothers:  Ellsworth (Marlene) Lambert Jr. of Canajoharie, Raymond Lambert of Lake George, James Lambert of Daytona Beach, FL, Lawrence (Karen) Lambert of Chicago, brother-in-law, Timothy Anderson of VA and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 6-8PM on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.  A graveside service will be held in the spring at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
