Cobleskill-Doris E. Van Natten, 86, of Elm St. died Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing where she had been a resident for the past four years.
Born April 20, 1935, in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Harold and Harriet (Wood) Coager.
Doris retired from the NYS Civil Service Department where she was a Keyboard Specialist. She served as a EMT in her local EMS and was a member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in various capacities.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Glenn Van Natten in 2005 and her brothers, Harold in 1988 and Lauren in 2020.
During her life, Doris enjoyed camping with her family and friends and was an active member of several camping organizations. Later in life, Doris discovered she had a talent for arts and crafts. Along with her husband, she produced wonderful tole paintings and knickknacks which she shared with family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends whenever possible.
Treasuring her memories are her daughter, Diane L. Van Natten of Cobleskill, her son, Dean M. and his wife Annie Van Natten of Saratoga Springs; her grandchildren: Carol Ann M. Van Natten, Caitlin Irene Van Natten, and Christopher Dean Van Natten of Saratoga Springs; her sister, Carolyn Bascom of West Charleton and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4PM to 5PM on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St, Cobleskill. A private funeral service will be held for the family with Rev. Ray Richards officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
