Tampa- Charlene A. Haviland, 80, formerly of Cobleskill, died Wednesday July 15, 2020 at St. Joseph’s North Hospital in Tampa, FL.
Born, September 14, 1939 in Cobleskill, NY she was the daughter of Ray and Edith (Blanchard) Sperbeck.
Charlene was a member of the West Shore Christian Church.
Charlene graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School in 1957, afterwards she went onto receive her associate degree. She had worked at Sterling Insurance as a secretary in Cobleskill, 9 years for the Central National Bank, and a cashier for the Middleburgh School Systems. In 1979 Charlene moved from Cobleskill to Tampa where she began work as a switch board operator at GTE Directories until her retirement on October 1, 1999.
Charlene is survived by her son, William R. Haviland of Middleburgh; her sisters: Patricia (William) Pierce of Howes Cave, and Cheryl (Arnold) Clapper of Stamford, and her brothers: Ronald (Ruth) Sperbeck of Cobleskill, and David (Dixie) Sperbeck of Stamford.
She was predeceased by two brothers: Hylan and Ward Sperbeck.
A private visitation will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY followed by a graveside service at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
