Winifred Graham

Cobleskill- Winifred M. Graham, 90, formerly of Cobleskill and Hyndsville, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a long illness.

Born March 16, 1923 in Sharon, NY, she was a daughter of Guy and Ila (Terpening) Somers. Winnie was raised on the family farm and was a high school graduate.

While living in Cobleskill, she was a bookkeeper for the former Rich's Department Store and had also worked for the Cobleskill Election Board. Winnie was a member of the Hyndsville United Methodist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Graham, who died January 18, 1992, and her son, Dennis Layman.

Survivors include a son: Arthur Layman of Palatine Bridge; her sister: Norma Fancher of Henderson, NC; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Officiating will be David Houck of the Hyndsville United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Ave., Schenectady. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service on Fri. from 10 to 11 AM.
