William Sirois

CARLISLE- William R. Sirois, 83, of Little York Rd, died February 20 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a brief illness.
Mr. Sirois was born October 20, 1922 in Jackson Heights, NY and was the son of Oliver and Vera (Barker) Sirois.
He was a WWII veteran serving with the Pacific Fleet # 777 of the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Sirois moved to the Carlisle area 20 years ago from Long Island and enjoyed boating, being with his dogs, and working with stained glass.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (Smith) Sirois, whom he married on June 24, 1979, two daughters; Jeanne Ayers of Delmar, NY and Alice Shaver of Salem, MO; one son; Alfred Ackerly of Fort St. James, British Columbia, Canada; 10 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 24 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Cobleskill, NY with Rev. Bert Mayne officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 23 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.
