William Komornik

William Komornik

Middleburgh- William J. Komornik, 96, formerly of Glenham, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital following a short illness.

Born December 18, 1918 in Beacon, he was the son of Matthew and Catherine (Pollock) Komornik.

Bill was a graduate of Beacon High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving from 1942 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. He was a member of the Schoharie American Legion and then Middleburgh American Legion.

He was a carpenter at Conrail for thirty-four years while living in Glenham. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Hilda, moved to Middleburgh in 1982.

Bill was an avid fisherman and had a passion for hiking. He loved to tinker and produce crafts with his carpentry skills.

Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years, Hilda (Odell) Komornik, whom he married January 16, 1944; and several nieces and nephews.

Prayers will be offered at 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh by Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Entombment with military honors will be at 12 PM Thursday, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, The Chapel, Newburgh, NY.
