Blenheim- William J. Kniskern, Sr., 77, of State Route 30, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a brief illness.
Born March 12, 1936 in Oneonta, he was the son of Harold and Gertrude (Shafer) Kniskern.
He retired from New York Power Authority where he was chief mechanic. Prior to which he worked on the family dairy farm, and later continued as a crop farmer. Bill enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
He was a member of the Blenheim Hose Company.
His wife, Virginia Kniskern, whom he married January 20, 1957, predeceased him on August 4, 2007.
Survivors include his two children: Barbara E. (Robert, Jr.) Mann and William J. Kniskern, Jr., all of Blenheim; his grandson: Kevin Mann of Blenheim; five nieces and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Charles Gockel officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 5 to 7 PM. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be in the Kniskern family cemetery.
