William Kennedy

Middleburgh- William R. Kennedy, 80, of Mill Valley Road, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

William was born May 17, 1929 in West Middleburgh, a son of Adam and Lottie (Rorick) Kennedy.

William was a lifelong area resident and a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1947 to 1950 until receiving an honorable discharge.

He worked at a saw mill in Schoharie and was a self employed carpenter.
William was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a true family man.

He was predeceased by two children, Cynthia Lee Kennedy and William R. Kennedy, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Kennedy of Cobleskill; two daughters: Cheryl Ker of Howes Cave and Melissa Jones of Cobleskill; two sisters: Madeline McNeil of Schoharie and Arlene Lawyer of Middleburgh; two brothers: Ken Kennedy of Superior, Montana, and Roger "Butch" Lawyer of Middleburgh; five grandchildren: Angelic Ker, Kristin Ker, Loren Ker, Caitlyn Jones, and Rhianna Galli

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation on Wed. from 6 to 7 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. A private graveside service with full military honors will be at the Middleburgh Cemetery.
