Cobleskill- William "Oliver" Crapser, 87, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Ellis Hospital following a long illness.
He was born on September 22, 1924 in Cobleskill and was the son of the late William A. and Olive (King) Crapser.
William worked for thirty-six years for the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a steamfitter, until his retirement. He was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. William was a member of the Richmondville American Legion Post #249. He graduated in his Army uniform from the former Richmondville Central School. Before his health declined, he was able to enjoy a trip provided by the Leatherstocking Honor Flight, to visit Washington DC, as well as the war memorials.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jane (Myers) Crapser at home, daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and Daniel Kelly of Newburgh, granddaughter, Ashlee Kelly of Newburgh, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley and Paul Crapser, and his sister, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tues., July 17, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Victor R. Zaccaro officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Tues., prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM. Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
