William Berry

Jefferson- William A. Berry, 74, of State Route 10, died Tuesday, September 18, 2019, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, with his loving wife of 55 years at his side.

Born December 26, 1944, in Stamford, NY, he was the son of the late Preston and Evelyn (Titus) Berry.

Bill retired from the Carpenter’s Local Union 291 in Albany after many years of service.  Throughout his life, he loved to partake in outdoor recreational activities, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Generous and kind in nature, Bill would give a stranger the shirt off his back.  He loved meeting and visiting with people and had an infectious smile that accompanied his love of life!  Always treasuring his time with family and friends, he held a special love for his grandchildren.

Cherishing his memories are his wife Marie (Sperbeck) Berry; daughters Michele Gilbert and Valerie Mamone; sons-in-law Marc Gilbert and Chuck Mamone; grandsons Evan and Connor; granddaughters Ava and Gianna; sisters Evelyn Meyer and Carolyn Collins, and his brother Edward Berry.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.  Burial will follow in Charlotteville Cemetery.  Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6PM.

Memorial contribution may be made to Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
