Summit- William J. Bergen, 70, of Baldwin Road, died suddenly at his residence on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
Born September 22, 1942 in Brooklyn, he was the son of Alfred T. and Rosalie (Jahr) Bergen.
Bill was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.
He retired from Verizon where he was an electronic switching engineer.
Bill enjoyed attending auctions and bazaars and was a collector of brick-a-brack.
Survivors include his two children: William J. Bergen, Jr. of Flushing, and Ann Marie Narizzano of Naples, FL; his grandson: Salvatore Narizzano and great-grandson: Giovanni Narizzano, both of Naples, FL; his sister-in-law: Noreen Bergen of Summit; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Marvin Batcher officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday. Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
