Werner "Whitey" Ledwon, Sr., 85, of Cotton Hill Road, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Mr. Ledwon was born November 2, 1922 in Manhattan, the son of Albert and Anna (Bohnke) Ledwon and has resided in Middleburgh, NY for the last 14 years.
Mr. Ledwon retired from C.W. Rogers in New York City as an operating engineer. He was a fifty year member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc.and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14 and a 22 year member of Experimental Aircraft Association. He also owned and operated Whitey's Sharpening Business. Mr. Ledwon was predeceased by his sister, Doris Totino.
Survivors include his wife, Marion (Russell) Ledwon whom he married on April 9, 1975 and a son, Werner Ledwon, Jr. of Staten Island, NY, 2 daughters: Margaret Manginelli of Staten Island, NY, and D. Judith Ledwon of Forest Hills, NY; a stepson, William S. Lidell of Byram, NJ, a stepdaughter, Bonnie Richter of Wyantskill 4 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 4 Greatgrandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00pm on Sun. Feb. 24, 2008 at Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home 134 River Street Middleburgh with Rev. Richard Hill of Schoharie Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sun. Feb. 24, 2008 at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211
