Wayne Collins

Richmondville- Wayne G. Collins, 63, of State Route 7, finished his fight on Monday, December 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. For the past 2 years, he gave a valiant battle to overcome his cancer.

Born October 3, 1958, in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Elmer D. and Ruth E. (Bogardus) Collins, Jr.

Wayne was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and went on to become a self-employed contractor.  For over 20 years he worked for Superior Housing, LLC of Howes Cave where he was a supervisor and heavy machine operator.  Wayne was part owner of Route 7 Trailer Outlet for several years.  Always a hard worker, he called himself a “dirt farmer”.

Taking his motorcycle out for rides, particularly on Sunday, boating, and snowmobiling were his favorite hobbies.  Attending Fairs whenever possible was a family tradition for Wayne.  Spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends is what brought him the most joy. He was a member of the Fraternal Organization of the Eagles Aeries of Cobleskill #2695.

Forever treasuring his memories are his daughter, Crystal (Nicholas) Kennedy and their children, Logan and Tucker of Summit; his fiancé, Shannon Mink and her daughters, Melanie and Kelsey Mink of Richmondville; his brothers: Douglas (Joan) Cater of Schoharie and James Collins (Linda Karker) of Cobleskill and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Bruce Cater.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 4PM to 7PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Private services will be held for the family with a spring burial in Seward Valley Cemetery, Dorloo.
