Wanda D. Babcock

August 3, 1935 — April 18, 2022

Johnstown- Wanda Joyce Dauley Babcock, 86, most recently of Johnstown, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 18 after a brief illness.

Born on August 3, 1934, in the Town of Summit, she was the daughter of Ford and Marguerite (Hogenson) Dauley.

Wanda attended Richmondville Central school where she was Queen of her Junior prom and graduated in 1952. She married Warren D. Babcock on May 9, 1953, and they had 5 children. Warren became a Reverend with the Pilgrim Holiness Church in 1965. His ministry took them to Northville, Amsterdam, Pierrepont Manor, Stone Ridge and East Worcester, NY, where all along she was a devoted pastor's wife. Wanda was an avid gardener who produced a bounty of vegetables and breath-taking flowers. She spent most of her time opening her home and heart to her family and the members of the church's she and her husband pastored.  Wanda was also a talented organist and Sunday school teacher. She participated in the Board of Elections for many years. Wanda and Warren spent years enjoying the Adirondack's while camping and hiking. She was an accomplished crocheter and created countless tablecloths, baby blankets and outfits, dish clothes, mittens and socks. She found joy in playing games and working on puzzles.

Wanda is predeceased by her husband, Warren, who passed on April 26 of 2016, her son, Wayne, who passed on January 31, 2019, her sister, Dorothy Ostrom, who passed on April 4, 2021.

She is survived by her children; Wendy Brush of Johnstown, William (Holly) of Pierrepont Manor, NY, Karen (James) Hinderliter of Ephratah, and Steven (Wendy) of Lacona, NY, a dozen grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 1 great-greatgrandchild.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 30th at 10am with a memorial service immediately following at 12pm at Fulmont Community Church, 12 W. Fulmont Street, Gloversville, NY with Pastor Greg Meyers officiating.  The family invites you to join them, at the Fulmont Community Church for a time of fellowship immediately following the memorial service. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Donations can be made in Wanda's name to the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Amsterdam, NY or the Fulmont Community Church in Gloversville, NY.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY.
