Fultonham: Walter M. Voeks, 52, of Pleasant Valley Road, died unexpectedely, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Walter was born on October 2, 1962 in Teaneck, NJ. He graduated from Middleburgh Central School and served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1988.
He worked at various jobs including Aero Ford and Metro Ford before becoming a mechanic's assistant with the Schoharie County Department of Public Works in 2010. Walter loved his job and the many friendships it brought.
Walter's passion was for muscle cars and hot rods, attending car shows and swap meets, building scale model cars, and collecting antique bicycles. He also found solace at his home, listening to the serenity of nature.
His warm heart, kind words, loving smile and his "AMC 4 ME" license plate will always be remembered by his family and friends.
Walter was predeceased by his mother: Luella (Steen) Yuhas, sister: Katherine Voeks; brother: Robert Voeks.
He is survived by his son: Tyler Voeks of Fultonham; father: Walter J. (Carol) Voeks of Catskill; step-father: Richard Yuhas of Northport, FL; sisters: Christine (Louie) DiCarlo of Clarksville, NY, Evelyn (Dominick) Caravella of Northport, FL, Corinne Canastra of Cobleskill; brother: James (Alisha) Yuhas of Port Charlotte, FL; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday July 15, 2015 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY. There will be no formal services. Walter's family also extends an invitation to please drive your classic car to the funeral home, Wednesday, if able, to help honor Walter's life.
