COBLESKILL- Walter Smith Ruland, 99, of Warnerville Cut Off, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Ruland was born June 16, 1907 in Middle Island, NY, the son of Elbert E. and Maude C. (Robinson) Ruland.
He was an oil burner man and plumber for Chapman's Garage in East Moriches, NY until retiring in 1969 when he moved to this area. He and his wife, Gladys, wintered in Florida until her death in 2003.
Mr. Ruland enjoyed gardening as a hobby.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Kenneth Dixon of Cobleskill; 4 grandsons: James (Mary Rose) Dixon of Rocky Point, NY, and their children, Craig and Amanda Dixon; Donald (Camille) Dixon of Holbrook, NY, Kenneth Dixon of Cobleskill, and David (Syndie) Dixon of Seward, and their children, Jennifer and Gregory Dixon.
At the family's request there will be no services. Burial will be private.
