Middleburgh- Walter A. Mowers, 68, of Main Street, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born June 18, 1941 in Catskill, NY, he was a son of Walter and Dorothy (Seeley) Mowers.
Mr. Mowers retired from General Electric where he was employed as a field service engineer and was stationed at the rail yard in Selkirk, NY. He was a member of the General Electric Elfun Society.
Mr. Mowers served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Diethrich) Mowers, whom he married Nov. 1, 1997; four daughters: Kelley Mowers of Lincoln, MA, Cathy Mowers of Salem, MA, Kimberly (Guido Barratta) Barratta Mowers of Hingham, MA, and Kari Mowers of Delmar, NY; two stepdaughters: Leanne (David) Ducharme of Naples, NY and Carrie Barown of Albany; a stepson, Christopher (Julie) Barown of Cherry Valley, NY; a sister, Joan (Leo) Becker of East Durham; and three grandchildren: Trystan Melas, Jesse Melas, and Graham Barown.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation at the funeral home from 2 to 3 PM on Sunday, prior to the service. Cremation will follow at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
The family extends an invitation to all to join them for a reception following the service at the Middleburgh Reformed Church, River St., Middleburgh from 4 to 6 :30PM.
