Virginia Felter

Howes Cave- Virginia V. Felter, 85, formerly of Howes Cave, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness. For the past four years, she was a resident at Saratoga County Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa.

Born December 16, 1925 in Summit, she was a daughter of Harry and Eva (Woodbeck) Roe.

Virginia was a homemaker who believed that taking care of her family, along with her grandchildren, and her home were most important. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and square dancing with her husband.

She was a member of the Barnerville United Methodist Church, where she was an active volunteer, especially for church dinners. Virginia was also a member of the United Methodist Women.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roger M. Felter, who died Dec. 1, 2003, and a daughter, Evelyn, who died in 1947.

Survivors include her daughters: Regina (Robert) Rasera of Ballston Spa and Debra (John) Stanton of Cobleskill; two grandsons: Eric Stanton of Cobleskill and Danta Rasera of Chappaqua, NY; and a great-grandson: Cadem Stanton of Cobleskill.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Brenda Tompkins of the Barnerville United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
