Virginia Brown

Cobleskill- Virginia H. Brown, 92, formerly of Cobleskill, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Oneonta where she has been a resident for the past four years.

Born November 7, 1922 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of LaVerne and Marietta (France) Hellijas.

Virginia was employed as a retail clerk for twenty-two years for the former J.J. Newberry's in Cobleskill. She also worked as a private duty caretaker for several years. She enjoyed making crafts and working on jigsaw puzzles.

Virginia was a member of the Warnerville United Methodist Church and its women's organization.

Her husband, Paul Henry Brown, who died October 20, 1968. Her sister, Eunice Tingue and her brother, Carl Hellijas also predeceased her.

Survivors include her daughter: Paula (Barrie) Campbell of Cobleskill and her brother: Maynard (Claudette) Hellijas.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Maxine and Richard Christman presiding. A period of visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Spring interment will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
