Middleburgh- Viola M. Slater, 70, of Dolen Lane, died Monday, February 15, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Born April 14, 1945 in North Blenheim she was the daughter of Reuben and Louise (Anderson) Wayman. She leaves behind her husband, Ralph 'Pete' Slater, whom she married May 22, 1962; three daughters: Sonja (Duane) Finch of Newcomb, NY, Tammy (Dan) Buck of Jefferson, and Susan (Mark) King of Breakabeen; six grandchildren: Nathan and Rachel Potter, Charles and Benjamin Buck, Ashley King and Courtney (Robert) Troidl; three step-grandchildren: Kyle (Lynn) and Corey (Jackie) Finch, Carly (KC) Jones; three great-grandsons: Levi Potter, Kaleb Jones, and Robert Mark Troidl; brother: Howard Wayman and sister: Joyce Walker.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers: Reuben Wayman, Jr. and Perry Miller.
Her lifelong passions were her husband, Pete, antique collecting, lawn sales, auctions, quilting, and crafts. She loved playing cards and games with family and friends.
A donation of organs was made and accepted. There will be no calling hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Middleburgh Volunteer Ambulance Corp, PO Box 817, Middleburgh, NY 12122 or Middleburgh Volunteer Fire Dept., Middleburgh, NY 12122.
