Summit- Vincent C. Florio, 71, of Deertail Lane, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born March 31, 1943 in Cobleskill, he was the son of Elsie (Simmons) and Raphael V. Florio, Sr.
Vince was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1960 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.
For the past ten years, he drove bus for Schoharie County Public Transportation, until just a month ago when illness prevented him continuing. He found pleasure in bringing smiles and laughs to others with his jovial disposition.
Vince enjoyed hunting with his cousins and friends annually. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and the time they had together.
Survivors include his wife: Nancy A. (Galvin) Florio, whom he married February 18, 1995; two step-children: Tracy (Jeff) Mills of Schenectady and Rudy (Danielle) Klahr of Albany; four grandchildren: Morgan and Izzabella Mills, and Paul and Maia Klahr; three siblings: Jayne (Chuck) Drake of Troy, OH, Keith (Cathy) Turner of Bethlehem, PA, and Shawn (Rona) Florio of Anchorage, AK; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service, from 1 to 2 PM. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester.
