Cobleskill- Victoria I. Righi, 94, of Highland Terrace, died Monday, March 9, 2015 at Albany Medical Center due to injuries sustained in a fall.
Born September 9, 1920 in Cairns, Australia, she was the daughter of John and Hazel (Rodger) Downton.
Victoria was a war bride, marrying Augustine Righi in 1942 and they moved to the United States in 1945. She was a foster parent to over sixty children from Schenectady County, along with being a homemaker. Spending time with her family and enjoying their outings together along with picnics, brought her much pleasure.
She was known to many of the local children as "Grandma", as she took care of many of them as well.
Her husband, "Gus" in 1993; and two sons predeceased her: Robin and Lynn.
Survivors include her four children: Barry (Deborah) Righi of Palm Harbor, FL, Toria Righi of Cobleskill, John (MaryPat) Righi of Cobleskill, and Robert (Brenda) Martiniano of Lansingburgh, NY; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 AM on Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will precede from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM. Celebrant will be Father Jeffrey L'Arche . Spring interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
