Franklinton (Schoharie County)- Thomas F. Mack, 77, of State Route 145, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.
Born July 11, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, Tom was a son of Thomas and Mary (McGovern) Mack.
He was a United States Army Veteran, proudly serving from 1952 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1954.
Tom retired from Western Union in New York City after many years as a master electrician.
As a young boy, he played baseball and football, and in his later years was a spectator of these sports. He also enjoyed saltwater fishing in his spare time.
He moved to Schoharie County in 1984 and became a member of the VFW Post #2161 in Middleburgh.
Tom was predeceased by a brother, Edward Mack of Brooklyn and a sister, Teresa (Mack) Boyle of Queens.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Gates) Mack, whom he married July 1, 1989; three sisters: Mildred V. Kane of Cobleskill, Mary Boyle of Queens, and Ann Harran of Fall Church, VA; a brother, Joseph Mack of Woodbridge, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thurs., April 29, 2010 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main St., Middleburgh with Father Thomas Holmes as celebrant. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation from 6 to 8 PM on Wed. at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh where a prayer service will be held at 7:45 PM with the VFW Post #2161 of Middleburgh. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 29, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
