Huntersland: Theodore Pelkey, 96, formerly of Huntersland, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Hudson Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany.
Ted was born on October 8, 1918 in Malone, NY to Valentine (Cussar) and Eusebe Pelletier.
Ted served in the United States Army from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady for many years as a painter. He was an avid dancer and not bashful about inviting any lady to cut a rug with him. He also enjoyed traveling and went across the country a few times. Ted was a member of the Timothy Murphy Post # 248 American Legion in Middleburgh, the Old Men of the Mountain and the Huntersland United Methodist Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle Cater Pelkey and two children.
Ted is survived by his four children and stepchildren: Arline (Harold) Guest of Huntersland, Ruth Dexter of Rotterdam, Melvin (Mary) Cater of Rotterdam, Herbert (Youvone) Cater, Jr. of Live Oak, FL and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Reverend Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery, Albany. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00pm prior to the service on Friday.
