Middleburgh- Theodore W. Palmatier, Jr., 59, of Decker Rd. died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Ted was born on January 13, 1955 in Stamford to Elizabeth (Beck) and Theodore W. Palmatier, Sr.
Ted was a 1972 graduate of Middleburgh Central School.
He was a third generation plumber, most recently working with Merit Plumbing and Heating in Albany. Ted was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #7.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing, camping, and volunteering at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where he was an active and well-loved member.
Ted's greatest passion was his grandchildren, Breanna, Madison, and Mason. He loved attending their basketball and little league games. He was a devoted family man and all who met him will remember his smile and big heart.
Ted was predeceased by his son: Teddy, and by his brother-in-law: Robert Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife: Deborah A. (Schmidt) Palmatier of Middleburgh, whom he married on April 22, 1972; son: John S. (Heather) Palmatier of Middleburgh; parents: Elizabeth and Theodore W. Palmatier, Sr. of North Ft. Myers, Fl.; sister: Susan Arner of North Ft. Myers, Fl.; brother: Mark (Christy) Palmatier of Summit; grandchildren: Breanna, Madison and Mason Palmatier of Middleburgh; mother-in-law: Irene Schmidt of Middleburgh; sister-in-law: Sue Schmidt of Richmondville; brother-in-law: Steve (Nancy) Schmidt of Middleburgh and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 326 Main St., Middleburgh with Pastor Royan Rodney officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
