Thelma Marie Reightmyer

Richmondville-Thelma M. Reightmyer, 90, of Richmondville died Monday, July 3, 2023 at Palatine Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past nine years.

Born October 28, 1932 in Richmondville, she was the daughter of the late Meredith C. and Catherine M. (Meade) Reightmyer. Thelma was a lifelong area resident and graduated from the former Richmondville Central School.

For many years she was a home healthcare worker, employed by Visiting Nurses Association of Menands. As her father aged, she took care of him in his home until his passing. She was a member of the Richmondville United Methodist Church and also the choir, which she enjoyed immensely. Thelma had a love for music that she shared.

She was a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews as well as their children and family was the joy of her life.
Thelma belonged to a local bowling league.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Lynn Reightmyer, Ruth Crapser and Shirley Pierce.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Evelyn Reightmyer of Richmondville and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Richmondville Rural Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her parents. Officiating will be the Pastor, Steve Gerhardt, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville.
