Teresa Angeline "Angie" Fornoff, 88, of Rte 145, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Baptist Health Systems in Scotia, following a long illness.
Mrs. Fornoff was born on September 20, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY the daughter of the late
Giuseppe and Maria (Arcadipane) Farina. Mrs. Fornoff was a civilian employee in the military during World War II where she would later meet her husband, Theodore F. Fornoff. They wed on April 8, 1946 and moved to New Jersey. She worked in the print shop at Curtis Wright Aviation in Roseland, New Jersey for 30 years before retiring and moving to Middleburgh in 1982. Mrs. Fornoff became a leader for Weight Watchers in Rotterdam, NY in 1985 and continued supporting them until her death. She was a member and past president of the Timothy Murphy Post #248 American Legion Auxiliary in Middleburgh and a member of the Town of Wright Schoharie Valley Lions Club. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, served on the church council and enjoyed quilting with the church's Phoebe Circle and was a volunteer at St. Mark's Christian School. In 2007 Mrs. Fornoff was honored to be chosen by SUNY Cobleskill to be one of Schoharie County's Notable Women. Mrs. Fornoff was predeceased on February 7, 1987 by her husband, Theodore F. Fornoff, and also predeceased by her brother, Sam Farina.
Surviving Mrs. Fornoff are her niece, Mary Decker of Hyde Park, NY, great-nieces, Kerri Decker of Beacon, NY and Melissa Decker of Hyde Park, NY and long-time friends, Alayne (Allyn) Wright and their children Beth (James) Lounsbury, Lynette (Keith) Terrell, Barbara (Mike) Hewlett and Travis (Sarah) Smigel. She was "Grandma Angie" to Victoria and James Lounsbury, Megan and Amanda Terrell, Holden and Campbell Hewlett and Hunter and Landon Smigel.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, December 4, 2008 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Main St. Middleburgh, NY. Rev. Peter J. DeBartolo will officiate. Burial will follow in the Middleburgh Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 10-11am, prior to the service, at the church.
