Summit- Terence (Terry) J. Thomas, 76, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY after a brief illness.
He was born June 1, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA and was the son of Elden J. and Dolores (Pottmeyer) Thomas.
Terry was a United States Navy veteran from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He spent most of his life in the Buffalo, NY area and was a Traffic Manager for Westinghouse Corporation for several years. He was a composer of advertising jingles for several companies, both large and small, for many years while hanging out with the musicians and working it out.
Terry was predeceased by his lifelong companion, Rose Giordano, who died on January 2, 2012, his sister, Ann Thomas Reinagel who died December 6, 2012, his two step sisters, Martha Sheridan and Patricia Schratz, and his step brother, Robert Plender.
He is survived by Rose's sons, Michael Bruno of Amsterdam, NY, and Vincent Bruno of Staten Island, NY, his niece, Jane (Marc) Hopkins, two nephews, John (Rececca) Reinagel and Jeff (Sandra) Ash, as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. A very special thank you to Terry's Angels, Kim, Doreen, and Paula.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY. A calling hour will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in Summit Cemetery, Summit, NY.
