Livingstonville- Sylvia Valls, 96, of State Route 145, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at her residence following a short illness.
Born October 8, 1917 in New York City, she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Schwartberg) Schott.
Sylvia was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed reading and puzzles. Family brought her the most pleasure.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius, who died April 12, 1978 and her son, David, who died in 1993;. and three siblings: Emma Lampione, Isiodore Schott, and William Schott.
Survivors include her two sons: William (Margaret R.) Valls, Sr. and Arthur Valls, both of Livingstonville; her sister: Annie Coster of Van Nuys, CA; four grandchildren: William Valls, Jr. of Manhattan, Robert Valls of Greenwood Lake, Kellie (Joseph) Rabbitt of Cobleskill, and Daniel (Jessie) Valls of Berne; and four great-grandchildren: Shannon and Melissa Valls of Vernon, NJ, and Kaitlyn and Joseph Rabbitt of Cobleskill.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 12PM to 1PM. Cremation will follow the service at Vale Crematory and inurnment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 795 E. Main St., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
