Stuart Brumaghim

Guilderland- Stuart James Brumaghim, 85, of Guilderland, died February 26, 2017 at Ellis Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Hyndsville, NY July 6, 1931, the son of the late Stuart L. and Norma M. Brumaghim. He lived most of his life in Schoharie County and was a member and trustee of the former Mineral Springs Methodist Church. He was, by trade, a furniture finisher, having worked for both the Wallace Co. and Concord House in Schenectady before opening his own shop known as the Finishing Touch in Cobleskill.

Stuart loved music and sang in many church choirs and cantatas. He was also a first tenor in the Shepard Keynoters, a musical group in the Air Force, while stationed in Texas. There as well as at home, he made several appearances on radio and television.
Stuart loved trains and was a past member of the model-railroading club in Cobleskill.

He was married to the late Elizabeth Sacia, who passed away in January of 2001. He was also predeceased by one sister, Jean Puckett of Albany.

His son, Bruce S., survives him (Ellen) Brumaghim of Rotterdam; three grandchildren: Jennifer Garney, Kristen and Brian Brumaghim, and two great-grandchildren: Grace and Ryan. He is also survived by two sisters: Eleanor (the late Franklyn) Wright of Schenectady and Norma (George) Cook of Berne; two brothers: Robert (Dorothy) Brumaghim of Hyndsville and Louis Brumaghim of Cobleskill; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will precede the service from 11AM to noon. Officiating will be Rev. David Houck of the Christian Community Church of Faith in Richmondville. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery, Sharon, NY.
