Stephen Jakala

Colonie- Stephen P. Jakala, 78, of Colonie, died Sunday, April 5, 2020 at home with his family.

Born October 10, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Stephen and Loretta (Garbacz) Jakala.

Steve was an adjuster and retired from the Schindler Elevator Corporation where he worked for several years.

He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Jakala of Cobleskill,  who died in 1981.

Being with his children and grandchildren brought him much happiness in life.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Clara (Littlejohn) Jakala; his sister, Diane Waldron of Greenport, Long Island; five children: Elaine Garner of Lee, NH, Maureen Peck of Rotterdam, NY, Michelle Cardell of Manning, SC, Stephen E. Jakala of Troy, NY and James Jakala of Riverton, UT; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held for immediate family due to COVID-19 and government regulations. Burial will be at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Stephen’s name to Northeast Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110.
