Shirley Ann Vrooman, 80, most recently of Hillcrest Spring Assisted Living in Amsterdam, NY, died Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Albany Medical Center Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Born on January 23, 1946, at her home in Central Bridge, NY, she was the daughter of Clifford Lawrence McMullen and Anna Mae Strobeck McMullen and was one of fifteen children. She was a lifelong resident of the local area.

Shirley enjoyed crafting and was a leader at her senior living place, helping others.

In 1997 Shirley was married to James Vrooman. He predeceased her.

Shirley is survived by her sons, George (Amy) Liddle of Rexford, NY, Bruce (Jodi) Liddle of Sloansville, NY; grandchildren, Rhiannon Liddle, Megan (Ray) Hartmann, Allyson (Keith) Chorba, McKenzie Liddle; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Chorba, Sylus Hartmann; and 1 great-grandchild expected next month, Lawson Chorba.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 1:00pm at the Schoharie DAR building/Lasell Hall 350 Main Street, Schoharie, NY 12157.
