Shirley Lawyer

Middleburgh- Shirley J. Lawyer, 81, of Straub Lane, died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Johnstown following a brief illness.

Shirley was born on February 28, 1934 in Middleburgh to Marjorie (Rivenburgh) and George Diamond.

Shirley worked as an aide at Early Woodlands in Cobleskill and enjoyed doing private duty care.

Shirley was a member of the Middleburgh Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Post # 2161 Ladies Auxiliary and the Timothy Murphy American Legion Post # 248 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and being with her grandchildren.

Her husband, Harold Lawyer, and her siblings predeceased her: Nancy, Carol, Sandra, Patricia, Theodore, Wayne and Benny.

Shirley is survived by her children: Kathleen Kelly of Niskayuna, Karen (Edward) Slater of Central Bridge, Kenneth Kelly, Jr. (Shelly) of Richmondville; grandchildren: Jennifer Slater, Kenneth Kelly III, Krystal Kelly, Brian Kelly, Jeremy Kelly, Kevin Kelly and Kristopher Kelly.

A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Church St., West Middleburgh with Rev. Raymond Donahue officiating. There will be no visitation and burial will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh and the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, Cobleskill.
