COBLESKILL- Shirley B. Deats, 71, of Caverns Road, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY after a short illness.
Born in Middleburgh, NY, January 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ransom F. and Jetta R. (Hamm) Graves. She graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School in 1952. She was a homemaker and was actively engaged in the family's businesses until the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Richard A. Deats, whom she married May 15, 1954; a daughter, Sherri (Alfred) Muniz of San Antonio, TX; a son, Timothy (Madeline) Deats of Cobleskill; granddaughters, Kristin and Kayla Deats of Cobleskill and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Francis Graves and two sisters, Wanda Ruland and Doris DeLello.
She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 53 years. She was known as a keen student of the Bible and actively taught others Bible truth.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 10, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3706 State Route 145, Cobleskill, NY. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne, NY.
