Richmondville- Shirley J. Bailey, 88, of Main Street died Monday, October 23, 2023 in the comfort her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 8, 1935 in the town of Sharon, she was the daughter of Harvey A. and Marion (Mallett) Schrader.
Shirley graduated from Sharon Springs Central School. For over thirty years she was a daycare provider for many children in her home. Shirley was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville as well as the Schoharie Valley Hay Shakers. In her leisure, she enjoyed baking.
On April 21, 1957 Shirley married Leslie "Jr." Bailey and he predeceased her on October 30, 2009.
Forever cherishing their memories are her children: Vicki (James) Swartout and Lisa (Robert) Hyatt; granddaughter, Heather (Imer) Rivenburgh and their children: Desiree, Logan and Trinity Rivenburgh; grandson, Christopher (Renee) Swartout and his children: Trenton, Trever and Isabella Swartout all of RIchmondville; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bailey of Coconut Creek, FL, sister-in-law, Joan Shaver of Richmondville and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service to be held at 1PM on Friday October 27, 2023 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Rev. Paul Messner will officiate. All are welcome to the visitation from 11AM to 1PM to be held prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Richmondville Rural Cemetery, PO Box 296, Richmondville, NY 12149.
