Richmondville- Sharon K. Althiser, 76, of Bear Gulch Road, died Friday, March 17, 2023 at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing following a brief illness.
Born September 22, 1946 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Roger and Marion (Terpening) King.
Sharon was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and received a certificate of Accounting from SUNY Cobleskill.
Prior to retirement, Sharon was a secretary for the NY State of Corrections at Camp Summit. She had previously been employed at Cobleskill Regional Hospital and Ace Glove Factory in Richmondville.
A member of the Richmondville United Methodist Church, she was also a Sunday School teacher and administrator.
On January 7, 1967 she married Ray E. Althiser, who survives her along with her four sons: Ray (Melissa) Althiser, Jr, Ronnie Althiser (Anne Marie Roe), Roger Althiser and Rodney Althiser (Libby Ohlde); ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Cooper.
Private services were held for the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Richmondville United Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Richmondville, NY 12149 or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, PO Box 491, Richmondville, NY 12149.
Arrangements have entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY.
