Richmondville- Sarah (Saveria) L. Lushkevich, 94, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her family.
Born January 25, 1926 in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of Francisco and Rose (DelGrippo) Tavella.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-nine years, Alexander Lushkevich; her two daughters: Alexis (Bill) Lighthall of Warnerville and Anna Needleman of Richmondville; three sons: Peter (Penny) Lushkevich of Warnerville, Alex (Patti) Lushkevich of Saratoga and Gary (Katie) Lushkevich of Laurens; her sister, Connie Indiero of Florida; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Sarah was pre-deceased by her parents, her son-in-law, Neal Needleman; three sisters: Agnes, Kate, Marie; and two brothers: Sam and Frank.
Sarah’s greatest love and accomplishment were her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. With her husband Al, Sarah created a very close, tightknit family. She will be remembered for her famous cooking, recipe collecting, love for sewing, and strong presence that will be impossible to replace. Sarah was known for her giving nature and making sure everyone was well taken care of, the door was always open at the Lushkevich Farm.
Respecting Sarah’s wishes, cremation with a private family service will be held.
