SAUGERTIES- Sandra A. Montague, 72, of Clauverwie Rd. in Middleburgh, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her daughter's residence in Saugerties.
She was born on January 4, 1940 in Ossining, New York and was the daughter of Robert and Edith Vail Lambert.
Sandra grew up in Ossining and relocated to Middleburgh in 1984, where she participated in many community volunteer programs particularly at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society as well as the Broome Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a talented singer and a member of the Hot Pot's choir group that would perform at numerous Nursing Homes and Hospitals in the area. She had many hobbies and especially enjoyed bowling in various leagues. Her circle of friends is vast due to the number of people she has met throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Angelo, who died in 2006, her daughter, Madeline "Mikki" Montague who died just recently, as well as two sisters, Patricia Howell and Barbara Lounsbury, and a brother, Robert Lambert.
Survivors include onedaughter, Debra and her husband David Madera of Saugerties; two sons, Angelo Montague of Middleburgh and James and his wife Amy Montague of Verplank; six grandchildren, Ashley and her husband Lenny Camperlango, Krista & Mauro Madera, and Delia, Gianna and James Montague; one brother, Tom Lambert; one sister, Marion Yetter and many nieces and nephews.
A Service of Rememberance will be held at 3 pm, on Thursday, March 22, 2012, Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main Street, Middleburgh, NY. Friends and family will be received prior to the service at the church between the hours of 1-3 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187 or Hospice, Inc. of Poughkeepsie, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
