Sandra J. Emanuel

Sandra J. Emanuel, 72, of Seward died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a brief illness.
Born in Ithaca, NY on March 24, 1951, she was the daughter of Frances “Sally” (Brooks) and Fred Bennett.
Sandy graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School in 1969 and earned her Associates Degree in Nursery Education in 1971 from SUNY Cobleskill. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa High Honor Society.
Sandy was a loving and generous mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and her many friends.
Sandy’s passion was in the equestrian field as she and her husband, Bruce, owned and operated the Emanuel Stables where she taught lessons and they boarded horses. She was an assistant riding coach at SUNY Cobleskill as well. Sandy was the leader of the Driftwood Riders 4H group. She also served on the Sunshine Fair Board for many years and was a previous president. She was a former member of the YoSchohara Riders as well.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bruce, who died Nov. 27, 2016.
Survivors include her sons: Kirt Wetsell of Seward and Justin R. Deming of Seward; Kirt's former wife, Maria Wetsell; four grandchildren: Caigla (Gabe) Zoda-Salzar, Cassie (Jay) Marcia, Hannah Wetsell and William Wetsell; her brother, Jim (Eileen) Bennett of Hadley, NY; niece, Caitlin McCarthy; uncle, Fred R. Brooks, Jr.; aunt, Matilda Brooks; cousin, Denise Cooke as well as several other cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, 109 Chapel St., Cobleskill with a date and time to be announced with Rev. Anna Blinn-Cole officiating.
Inurnment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY on the family plot.
