Cobleskill- Salvador Garcia, Sr., 96, formerly of Early Woodland Apartments, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Dutch Manor Nursing Home & Rehabilitation in Rotterdam where he had been a resident for the past year.
Salvador was born January 25, 1912 in Puerto Rico, the son of Juan and Juana Garcia. Most of his adult life was spent in the New York City area where he was a painter. He moved to Cobleskill in 1991.
Mr. Garcia was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a recipient of the purple heart along with other awards. He served our country in warfare and was also a bugler in the Army.
Salvador's hobbies were cooking and car washing.
He was predeceased by his wife, Juanita (Milan) Garcia who died April 19, 2005.
Survivors include his 2 sons: Salvador (Beverly) Garcia, Jr. of Sloansville and Michael (Kathy) Garcia of Potomac, MD; a brother, Augustine Garcia of New York City; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private at the family's request. There will be no calling hours.
