Ruth Helme

Cobleskill- Ruth C. Helme, 85, of Donats Brow, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at her residence with her loving family at her side.

Born in Schenectady, NY on November 22, 1926, she was the daughter of Charles and Paula (Roe) Coons.

Ruth was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and received her associate's degree from Endicott College.

She was an x-ray technician at Cobleskill Regional Hospital and for the late Dr. Dougall, where she was also a receptionist. Ruth retired as a receptionist from Dr. Jay Dewell's office.

At one time, she served as tax collector and assessor for the Town of Seward. Ruth had also been an active participant for the local Republican Party in her younger years.

She was a member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford A. Helme, Jr., whom she married May 30, 1947; her six children: Susan Payne of Meadow Valley, CA, Don (Susan) Helme of Cobleskill, Holly Hauser of Cobleskill, Stephen (Sandy) Helme of Port Orange, FL, Faith (Mark) Nadeau of Cobleskill, and David (Kimberly) Helme of Los Angeles, CA; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, 109 Chapel St., Cobleskill with Pastor Pamela Mikel Hayes officiating. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the church from 1 to 2 PM, prior to the service. Inurnment will be private at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
