Schenectady-Ruth E. Friedow, 92, formerly of Schenectady, died Friday, March 11, 2022, at her daughter's residence in Middletown where she had resided for the past three years.

Born May 16, 1929, in Sharon, NY, she was the daughter of Harvey A. and Marion (Mallett) Schrader. Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Sharon Springs Central School and then took a job as a presser for Jonathan Logan of Cobleskill until she married Ernest C. Friedow in 1950. They resided in Cobleskill for a few years before moving to Schenectady.

Ruth was a homemaker all her life and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady and The Mary Circle organization. She was always family oriented, taking care of her children and grandchildren.

While living with her daughter, Ruth attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown and enjoyed family outings and gatherings.

She was the loving mother of Deborah (Martin) Salamack of Middletown and Ernest C. (Brenda) Friedow, Jr. of Schenectady; beloved grandmother to Michael (Julia) Friedow of Schenectady, Tiffany Friedow of Schenectady, and Hilary (John) Edwards of Myrtle Beach, SC and great-grandmother to Jason Friedow of Schenectady, Grace Edwards, and Charlie Edwards both of Myrtle Beach. Ruth was one of thirteen children, the last being her surviving sister, Shirley Bailey of Richmondville. There are several nieces and nephews that will cherish her memories as well. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest C. Friedow, in 2016.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation that will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 2 to 4PM and then 6:30 to 8:30 PM with a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Peter Rustico of St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown. Spring interment will be in Slate Hill Cemetery, Town of Sharon.
