Ruth Becker

Summit - Mrs. Ruth Becker, 95, formerly of Summit, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Mrs. Becker was born December 24, 1913 in Starksville, NY , a daughter of Adelbert and Anna Van Buren.
Mrs. Becker was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed camping with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting in her free time. Mrs. Becker was very active member of the Summit Conservation Club for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband Claude Becker.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Richard) VanValkenburg of Summit; 4 sons: Edward (Margaret) Becker of Hyndsville, Ivan (Barbara) Becker of Richmondville, Wade (Karen) Palmatier of Richmondville, and DeWayne "Bucky" Palmatier of Haven, KS; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, with Vena Ray officiating. Family and friends are also invited to attend a period of visitation from 1 to 2 PM on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Spring interment will be in Summit Cemetery.
