Rudolf Gareis

Rudolf Gareis, 85, of Lower Road, died Wednesday, April 08, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Gareis was born on April 12, 1923 in Elbogen, Czechoslovakia, a son of the late Anna (Griess) and Josef Gareis.
Mr. Gareis lived in Queens, NY until moving to Middleburgh, NY in 1967. He was a mason by trade, retiring from the Bricklayers Local 9 in Albany, NY. Mr. Gareis enjoyed nature, especially gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elisabeth (Bayer) Gareis whom he married on January 15, 1949 and by his daughter Hannelore (Walter) Friedrich of Queens, NY and granddaughter, Joanne (Matthew) Iannuzzi of Queens, NY.

A Funeral service will be held at 9:30am, Friday, April 10, 2009, at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY. Rev. Peter J. DeBartolo from St. Mark's Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery.
