Roy Clapper

Roy Clapper, 76, of Priscilla Court, Central Bridge, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Eden Park Healthcare Center in Cobleskill following a short illness.
Mr. Clapper was born August 1, 1929 in Cobleskill, the son of William and Julia (Hadsell) Clapper.
He was a lifelong area resident and owned Clapper and Sons Sawmill in Carlisle from 1971 until retiring in 1991. Prior to that he had worked for Kivort Steel, D & H Railroad in Oneonta, Albany Steel and General Electric.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence (Powell) Clapper, who died Jan. 30, 1986, a son, Brian who died in1968, and a brother, William.
`Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Clapper whom he married Aug. 1, 1968; 2 daughters: Betty (Bobby) Fisher of Vero Beach, FL, and Debra (Jerry) Weis of Hyndsville; 3 sons: Larry (Diane) Clapper of East Worcester, Gary (Grace) Clapper of Warnerville, and Bruce (Anne) Clapper of Cobleskill; 3 sisters: Shirley Seward and Linda Teytand, both of Carlisle, and Margie Gordon of Waterville; a brother, Jerry Clapper of Warnerville, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM on Sat., prior to the service. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.
